College Ministry - Anderson First Baptist
Here’s What’s Coming Up
Aug 19: AU Progressive Dinner - we’re serving appetizers
Sep 9: go see the movie “Courageous” by the same people who made “Facing the Giants.”
Sep 16: Homeless for the Homeless - college and youth will be sleeping in cardboard boxes at the AU Athletic Campus to raise awareness and funds for homelessness in Anderson. Proceeds go to Family Promise (a ministry we partner with to provide shelter for children and their families.) There will be games, music, and speakers, and you won’t want to miss this fun event that will shape you in your heart for the homeless.
November 4 - 5: There is a CSF Fall Retreat in Black Mountain NC. It’s an opportunity to get together with other area college students for praise and worship, games, and deepening your faith. Backup plan is a David Crowder concert. The CSF event would likely be $50 or less and the concert around $30. I just need to know ASAP what people prefer of the two - contact Travis Crocker (traviscrocker@gmail.com) and let me know
January 1: New Years Day is on a Sunday this year! We’ll do New Years community meal mission after church that day. We also need help as always the week before; preparing food for the poverty stricken who will eat with us, and organizing clothes donations for them as well.
January 2-5: Passion Conference 2012 in the Georgia Dome. By far the best conference I (Travis) have ever been too! You’ll hear awesome music from a variety of styles all praising God. You’ll worship with thousands, and hear great messages that will grip your soul. And this year, we got a hotel within walking distance of the conference making it MUCH easier. More specifics on cost later, but expect around $100 for your lodging, concert, plus food money. We only have 10 spots available (I’m taking one of those) so you’ll want to get your reservations in early to grab those up.
Welcome Students!

A right: Meredith Looney and Caty Wentzky helped during Vacation Bible School use computers and a green screen to virtually place kids in a disco, flying over the Statue of Liberty, and going through fun house mirrors.
